I’m a Filipino artist, full time mother and wife based in Hong Kong. I began my interest in arts in 2002 when I passed by a gallery in Stanley Hong Kong. I rekindled the old passion in me since early childhood and began sketching, experimenting and spent more time in observation of light and shade. I honed my skills really fast and to boast my confidence I enrolled in Space, Hong Kong University in 2004 and was appreciated by my teacher and classmates. I was encouraged to pursue my studies but decided to find and learn my own way.
In 2008 I had my first exhibition in Hong Kong and was delighted with good feedbacks. The following years I joined charity auctions mostly in Bethune House Women Refuge which is very dear to my heart. In 2013 I was invited by Hong Kong-based Moon Gallery and exhibited two paintings at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Exhibition along with some of the best artists from Hong Kong and Korea. Currently my works are with collectors in UK, US, India, Hong Kong, Philippines and Australia.
For a couple of years I did not paint, mainly due to a creative block. I was determined to improve and hone my creative juices and turned to my camera that has been lying around for ages without been properly utilized. It was at this moment my passion for photography was rekindled. I began to love it and surprisingly through my photography my love to paint has slowly returned.
In 2014 I was invited to join an exhibition to celebrate the Philippine National Day in Hong Kong along with Filipino National Artist Bencab and other fellow Filipino artists at Marco Polo Prince hotel in Kowloon. The exhibition was a success as I sold two paintings out of the three I exhibited.
Presently I devote my time painting and doing photography. I love them both as through the lenses and colors it portrays my complex personality. When I take pictures I don’t think myself as a painter and when I paint I have to abandon photography from my mind. The more I’m into photography the more creative I have become in my paintings.
As a full time mother, wife, painter & photographer my limited time and strength brings in challenges every day, but it’s rewarding and makes life meaningful.
